Seasons come and go
Like the rain drops that fall,
Like the flowers that bloom
Everything has its moment

There comes a time in a Christian’s journey when the Lord decides to pass by. What does this mean? Isn’t He already with us? Something you might ask and same questions I asked myself. Yes, He absolutely is with us. When Jesus went to heaven, He mentioned the Helper that would be sent into our lives. (“I will send you the Helper[a] from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth[b] who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me.) That Helper comes to live in us when we become born again. Quite literally one of the most interesting yet comforting things we could learn and have when we become born again. But how is this different from God passing by?
Let’s go wayyy back to the story of Moses. Back story: we have Moses, an Israelite man born in Egypt in a time when a command was issued for baby boys to be killed. Somehow survived, due to God’s mercy and is living in the same palace that issued this decree. He gets called to lead the people of Israel out of slavery by God after years of pruning and shaping. On his first encounter with God, we notice something about him. He was scared, and doubted himself and questioned God, asking for Aaron, his brother to help be his mouthpiece. Later, he goes on to lead to people out and is constantly meeting with God seeking His guidance on how they should live. In one of his fellowships, Moses asked the Lord to show him his glory. (Exodus 33: 18 – 22) The Lord passes by….
Hold it here for a second, because we also have instances in the New Testament, Jesus would pass through a town and people would flock and rush to meet Him because of all that they have seen and heard. Seasons.
The Lord passed by Moses for a moment, and same with Jesus, who would be in a certain place for a moment, until He moved on to the next place to continue His work on earth. It tells us something, God may choose in a moment to pass by, meaning His presence is concentrated in a certain place at a certain time. Mostly, those moments come with a change, a shift, or a move of some kind. Moses, for example left the tent glowing and radiant. The people that met Jesus, came back healed and free. And that’s also going to be true for us when we do encounter the Lord, but funny thing is, we need to be ready for it.
How do we do that? Great question! Here’s how:
1. Come with spiritual hunger. Matthew 5: 5
2. Discern the anointing on the vessel of God. Matthew 10:41
3. Engage actively not passively. Acts 10:44
4. Come expecting a personal encounter with God. Luke 5:5
Moments like these are so so special and so amazing, and God wants us prepared and ready to host Him and receive from Him when He does pour out blessings on us. Sometimes might be tough to open our hearts or we might just feel lazy or not even know how, but its so important that we take it one step at a time and keep moving, trusting God through every process. So this week I encourage you to dig deeper, try something new, spend time with God in prayer and in fellowship. He, our father God, dearly wants to meet with you, so don’t miss this moment! Embrace it and all it has for you, you are His child, so walk in your inheritance!
